Since 1999, the Descorchados guide has been analyzing the wine scene for South American wines, giving consumers and trade an overview of what these countries are producing. Descorchados has become the main reference for wines coming from this part of the world. Patricio Tapia, the author of Descorchados, has gained a remarkable reputation in the wine trade and today also writes for Wine & Spirits Magazine and Decanter.

Every December, Descorchados organizes a top event in Santiago, in one of the most luxurious hotels of the city, and during this event communicates which wineries have been the most awarded wineries of the year.
For the last couple of years, Descorchados has organized another top event during the summer in Viña del Mar. This city is located an hour-and-a-half from Santiago on the Pacific coast and is situated in an important residential region. The event is held in the Sheraton Hotel and consumers and trade pay an entrance fee to be part of this party that cannot be missed. The top wines of Chile are shown during the night, and people taste the wines and enjoy music while delicious food es being served.
